To save you from any possible disappointment, you will have to purchase ingredient that is not sold in the typical supermarket. Shops such as Planet Organic and Whole Foods sell Organic Almond Milk, Raw Chocolate, and Raw Honey.
I can appreciate that its probably going to be frustrating that this ingredient wont is available at your local supermarket, but that’s because they only sell popular, lowest grade, most profitable goods.
I wrote this post because its horrible seeing parents unbeknown to them buy the crap that’s sold in supermarkets for their kids.
Anyway here’s my alternative to the typical shop bought unhealthy, preservative and process sugar filled chocolate milk.
It’s also perfect for those that are lactose intolerant.
Ingredients:
Raw Chocolate Powder
Raw chocolate is amazing stuff, it contains over 1200 active chemicals which makes it one of the most nutritionally complex food on the planet. Chocolate contains PAE, which is a chemical that makes you feel happy and excited.
Almond Milk
I’ve used Almond Milk here because pasteurized milk is pretty unhealthy due to containing antibiotics, drug residual, and some pretty nasty gunk. Plus the live beneficial bacteria, proteins, and fats have been destroyed by the high heat used in pasteurisation rendering it pretty low in any usable nutrients. The only thing would add is at least with organic dairy milk you’re getting lower levels of these harmful residuals.
The best option if you wanted to use dairy milk would be raw dairy milk. It contains the natural undenatured healthy fats and protein as well as the natural probiotics are still live, which are great for strengthening the immune system. Unfortunately its extremely hard to find raw milk unless you buy directly from the farm. (some interesting information about raw milk)
Side note:
When something is undenatured, it means that its bioactive compounds are still active.
As opposed to denatured where the bioactive compounds are destroyed, meaning quite possible your body won’t be able to assimilate them.
The Sweetness
My favorite sweetener would have to be raw honey as its alive with all its active ingredients. Some supermarkets are now starting to sell Manuka Honey, which is more expensive but worth it. Other sugars you could use are date syrup, agave nectar, coconut palm sugar or raw cane sugar. You could also use Stevia if you wanted it to be sugar-free although I found this to have a slight aftertaste that some don’t like.
How to make:
There you have it, easy chocolate milk that any adult can appreciate and any kid won’t notice the difference.
A chocolate fix without the negative side effects or body irritability that some get from the typical processed artificial chocolate milk in the local supermarkets.
This recipe has been tested many times before, its been a big hit with no adverse effects, just smiles.
